Religion Resettles Refugees: Religion’s Role in Integration in the United States

Abstract What role does religion play in the displacement, resettlement, and integration of refugees who are brought into United States? This chapter examines an ongoing initiative, Religion Resettlement Project (RRP), that takes as its central premise idea is a critical aspect for understanding refugees’ mental health civic lives, fostering civil society, conceptualizing long-term displacement refugees, assisting with their integration. With RRP, we consider full range resettled refugees—from Holocaust survivors to Afghan Special Immigrant Visa holders. In this chapter, examine key initiatives pertinent project, some challenges related implementation, areas where further research needed better understand dynamic.
